Though many workplaces may choose to ignore Easter because of its religious ties, Easter started out as a celebration of spring, life, and new beginnings, and those are ideas that everyone can celebrate. Plus, no one even knows where the Easter Bunny originated from, and we all celebrate that anyway.
No matter your beliefs, and no matter whether you prefer colorful, foil-wrapped chocolate bunnies or candy-coated eggs, Easter is a fantastic opportunity to plan fun and unique festivities at your organization.

Organize an Easter egg hunt.
Everyone loves a good old-fashioned Easter egg hunt, right? Even the adults who sit on the sidelines watch their children collect brightly colored eggs with envy (right? Or is that just us?). Give everyone a chance to revisit their childhood with an egg hunt around the office! Of course, this also works for warehouses, factories, and retail stores—you’ll just need to make sure everyone stays safe.
Put small candies, prizes, or dollar bills in the eggs and hide them around your building. You might even create a raffle with awesome prizes and put raffle tickets in the eggs. Then, give everyone a chance to get away from their workspace and hunt for the eggs. Make sure to put a cap on how many eggs people can take so that everyone gets at least one.
Set up egg decorating stations.
Colored eggs are a staple for any Easter celebration, and creating your own is half the fun! Set up decorating stations and put each of your teams on a rotating schedule so that each team has a set amount of time to sit, chat, and decorate eggs together. You might consider setting up two teams that don’t interact often to work together to promote teamwork and friendship between coworkers.
All you need are a few tables, hard-boiled eggs for each of your employees (with a few extra because, let’s be honest, we’ve all dropped an egg before), paper towels, and cups with food dye in them. Oh, and maybe something to get the eggs out of the cup, unless your employees are okay with extremely colorful fingers.
Have managers give Easter baskets.
A great idea is to provide managers with a special Easter budget and empty Easter baskets for each of their direct reports. Managers can use that budget to fill each basket with specific items and candy that their employees will appreciate. And don’t limit the baskets to only candy! Get a bookworm a new novel or get a type A a new planner. Maybe you have a film buff on the team who would love a movie theater gift card.
With fun, customized, and personal Easter baskets, your Easter celebration will mean even more to your employees.
Treats, snacks, candy, confections, and chocolate.
One of the most common traditions of Easter is the one anyone with a sweet tooth will love: candy. From chocolate bunnies to caramel eggs to whatever is in Peeps, Easter is a great time to spoil your employees with fun snacks.
You don’t have to only give unhealthy foods, however. If you aim to promote the wellness of your workforce, here are some healthier alternatives to the traditional treats:
- Chocolate covered fruit (or simply fresh fruit displays)
- Carrots, celery, or other Easter-themed food
- Fruit juices or smoothies
- Carrot cake
Offer some variety so that people with different tastes or dietary restrictions still feel the Easter spirit!
Don’t forget decorations!
Easter is all about bright colors, green grass, and natural light, and you can take advantage of that festive attitude with the right decorations. Whether you go all out with the colorful streamers and lights or you keep it simple with a few egg-centric items, decorating your office can actually increase employee productivity and energy levels (especially when employees can decorate their own space!).
Bring in spring with your Easter celebration.
Easter is a wonderful time to show your employees how much you appreciate them. No matter what kind of activities or treats you provide, everyone will love celebrating Easter at work.
