We are pleased to announce that Jason Hansen is our December 2022 Goodness Grant recipient!

Jason didn’t originally plan on giving away a car for Christmas, but it quickly became a yearly tradition that is now six years in the making.

In 2016, Jason had purchased an old van that he planned to fix up and resell, but when he heard about a neighbour in need, he decided to fix up the van for the neighbour and her children instead. The community came together, offering donations for parts, free labour, and any other help needed. After completing the van, Jason and the community filled it with presents for each of the kids and surprised the family with their new Christmas car.

Every holiday season since then, Jason has purchased various cars, fixed them, and gifted them to individuals in need in the area. Time and time again he has been impressed and humbled by the participation of his friends and neighbours who step up to help with each project.

After a motorcycle accident in 2018, Jason was the recipient of service, calling the hospital a “revolving door” of concerned friends and neighbours. He recognizes how offering and receiving service is such an important way to live a fulfilling life.

When he’s not fixing cars, Jason happily volunteers at his local fire department and with the county’s search and rescue team. He says helping others must just be in his blood.

We are pleased to announce that Jason is our December 2022 Goodness Grant recipient!
