For 12 years, Marta Beaudry-Murdock has been an elementary and middle school special education teacher, inspired by her son Christian, who was born with special needs. Her experiences with Christian and her career gave her a deep appreciation for individuals with special needs. She feels they are the most genuine people, and that they have the power to heal others by just being around them.
After Christian's unexpected passing in late 2023, Marta channeled her grief into purpose by founding Christian’s Christmas, an initiative to bring joy to often-overlooked special needs adults during the holidays. Partnering with the Bishop Alliance, she and her family delivered Christmas gifts and spent time with these incredible individuals, sharing laughter and heartfelt moments that brought joy to everyone involved. What began as a small gesture has grown into a cherished annual tradition, fueled by generous donations and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Now, Marta and her husband are expanding their vision by creating The Healing Ranch and The Healing Community. The Healing Ranch will be a haven for veterans, first responders, and other trauma survivors. Participants will engage in ranch work and other outdoor activities like hiking and fishing, as well as meaningful community service. The ranch will provide a space for healing and reconnection, fostering a sense of purpose and belonging.
On the same property, The Healing Community will serve as a home for adults with special needs. Residents will work in greenhouses, care for animals, and create products to sell at a marketplace, forming a vibrant community that celebrates their unique abilities. This integration between the ranch and community will create a space where everyone can contribute and heal together.
Marta’s mission is to create a place where trauma can be transformed into connection and healing, ensuring that no one feels forgotten and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
